Bush backs e-gov efforts

President Bush on Wednesday reiterated that the transition to electronic government is a core feature of government reform, and urged department leaders to bolster coordination efforts for implementation of e-government.

"Effective implementation of E-Government is important in making Government more responsive and cost-effective," Bush said in a memo to the heads of agencies and departments.

"Our success depends on agencies working as a team across traditional boundaries to better serve the American people, focusing on citizens rather than individual agency needs," Bush said in the memo. "I thank agencies who have actively engaged in cross-agency teamwork, using E-government to create more cost-effective and efficient ways to serve citizens, and I urge others to follow their lead."
