Federal science Web portal under development

The people behind a pending Web site dedicated to federal science programs on Tuesday outlined the mechanics and mission of site, Science.gov.

At the American Society for Information Science and Technology's annual meeting, officials from the Science.gov Alliance shared their plans for the new e-government portal, which is expected to launch next February.

The alliance consists of science experts within the federal government.

Panelists at the event included representatives from the National Agricultural Library, the Energy Department's Office of Scientific and Technical Information, the National Library of Medicine, the Defense Technical Information Center and the National Air Intelligence Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
