Relocation board’s charter extended through end of 2005

The Governmentwide Relocation Advisory Board’s charter given some wiggle room in case it stumbles in meeting September reporting deadline.

The congressional charter authorizing the Governmentwide Relocation Advisory Board was extended to Dec. 31, 2005, to allow the panel's members to finish their report, which is scheduled for release in mid-September.

The announcement was made Thursday in the Federal Register.

GSA spokeswomen Viki Reath said in a statement that the GRAB report is on the same time schedule as originally intended, but the charter was extended in the event the board encounters unanticipated roadblocks.

The original charter, established in July 2004, was for a year, scheduled to wrap up this month.

The board will meet one more time on Aug. 18 in Washington to discuss proposed changes to the Federal Travel Regulation that likely will have broad implications on laws regarding federal employees' relocation allowances and management issues.
