Play of the Day: The President Turns Down 'Person of the Year'

The president is beefing with a magazine on Twitter.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has no clear director this week after former chief Richard Cordray resigned last week and two laws outline different ways an acting director should be named. As such, President Donald Trump's choice Mick Mulvaney and Cordray's pick Leandra English bth claim to run the agency now and it will be decided in court. Conan O'Brien joked about the news Monday, saying English and Cordray should just "settle it in the octagon."

Trump tweeted over the long weekend that he received a call from Time for their "Person of the Year" issue, but he wouldn't agree to a photo shoot without a guarantee that he would receive the honor. The magazine disputed Trump's claim on Twitter, prompting The Opposition's Jordan Klepper to joke that Twitter's purpose is "light to severe racism," not correcting people. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that Trump also said that he turned down the chance to marry Prince Harry and that Time's actual procedure to choose the cover is that they "offer it to Beyonce and work your way down."
