Play of the Day: The President Loves Beautiful Confederate Statues

A 16-year-old high school student named Jack Bergerson is attempting to run for governor in Kansas as a Democrat. Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost joked about the news, saying that Bergerson is the youngest candidate in the party by a factor of about 150 years.

President Donald Trump tweeted out his support for keeping monuments to icons of the Confederacy, lamenting "the beauty that is being taken out of our cities." Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about Trump loving beautiful statutes by referencing his wife, while Conan O'Brien joked that it was "the first time Trump complimented anything that's over 40 years old." Late Show's Stephen Colbert highlighted one piece of Confederate beauty, showing Oak Hill, Tennessee's Nathan Bedford Forrest Statue, joking that the Forrest's Ku Klux Klan was founded by "skirt-wearing nutcrackers riding wet lizards."
