Play of the Day: The Wall and the Potential Shutdown

President Donald Trump had separate phone calls with the leaders of Japan and China Monday to discuss North Korea. Conan O'Brien joked that Trump "was shocked to learn that those are two different people."

Reports circulated this week that Trump might veto a potential government funding bill if money for his border wall is not included. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked that Trump's slow progress in nominating officials makes it seem like the government is shut down already, while Late Show's Stephen Colbert compared a potential shutdown to Trump's business failures. Trump tweeted and spoke about the wall quite a bit over the weekend, quoting cost estimates in an Associated Press interview and saying costs could increase "if I do a super-duper, higher, better," project. Colbert noted that Trump's description sounds decreasingly like an infrastructure project and increasingly like a child describing a pillow fort project.
