President Donald Trump ate dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate while airstrikes on Syria were being conducted. Fox News' Greg Gutfeld noted the distracted nature of their meal together, comparing Trump to a person on a date checking their phone.
The airstrikes were a main topic on late-night shows over the weekend. Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost joked about Trump starting a real war with Syria's Bashar al-Assad while being in a Twitter war with Arnold Schwarzenegger, while Last Week Tonight's John Oliver joked that Trump's 2013 tweets on Assad are illustrative of Trump's mind. SNL's Michael Che tried to explain the alliances in Syria, with Russia, Syria, ISIS and the U.S. all entanlged around one another by showing some classic slapstick comedy footage.
