Play of the Day: Sean Spicer's Tough First Week on the Job
The White House Press Secretary's job is a lot like air freshener.
The Academy Award nominations were revealed Tuesday morning. Late Night's Seth Meyers tied the news to politics, joking that Hillary Clinton was nominated for her performance at Donald Trump's inauguration, while Conan O'Brien tied the news to the president's recent spurious claims about the election.
Trump told Congressional leaders this week that 3-5 million people voted illegally in the November election, a claim that has no evidence to support it. Meyers noted that Trump sounds less like a winner than a gambler and noted Trump's casino failures, while Jimmy Kimmel joked that Trump's not lying necessarily if he believes it. Kimmel also highlighted White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer's defense of the president, while The Daily Show's Trevor Noah compared Spicer's job to that of bathroom air freshener.
