Play of the Day: The President-elect, Relative Truth and Intelligence

Donald Trump is making news on Twitter once again.

The Senate Armed Services Committee held a hearing Thursday to investigate the claims of Russian interference in the 2016 American election. When asked if he spoke to president-elect Donald Trump about disagreements with the intelligence community on Russia's involvement, committee chair John McCain told reporters that he has not "talked to him." Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about Trump not meeting with people like McCain, saying that the president-elect is meeting with "the important people. Like Senator Kanye."

On Thursday, Trump posted two tweets about his feelings about the U.S. intelligence apparatus and other sources of intelligence regarding foreign policy, saying he's a "big fan of 'intelligence.'" Colbert took a shot at Trump Thursday, saying the statement is an example of the saying "if you love something, let it go." Jimmy Kimmel keyed in on another part of the story: Trump saying "for the people to make up their own minds as to the truth." Kimmel, alluding to the post-fact political era, noted that some truths are absolute and cited the flat earth people as an example.
