Play of the Day: Ben Carson's Hearing Was Definitely Eventful

Donald Trump's pick for HUD chief overcorrected a little Thursday.

President Barack Obama awarded his vice president with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, Thursday. In return, as Late Night's Seth Meyers joked, Joe Biden gave Obama his highest honor: A finger gun point and a wink.

Donald Trump's pick for HUD chief Dr. Ben Carson had his Senate hearing Thursday and explained his management style in terms of being a CEO-style manager. But, as The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joked, if Trump is in charge of picking the correct people and Carson is picking the correct people… who actually knows how to do the jobs of governing? Carson also provided a great out-of-context quote that was fodder for late-night shows, saying "It will not be my intention to do anything that will benefit any American," when talking about Trump's potential conflicts of interest. Noah joked that Carson was overcorrecting, while Viceland's Desus and Mero joked that "usually, you got to get the job before you tell people to kiss your ass." Noah noted the context of the quote, giving an example of Carson's famed slow cadence and how that would be terrible for patients of the good doctor.
