Play of the Day: Trump and 'Sarcasm'

The GOP candidate doesn't seem to understand what the word means.

GOP nominee Donald Trump has made news recently by saying that Barack Obama is the "founder of ISIS." According to late-night TV, the people that have it worst are his surrogates because they have to defend his comments. The Nightly Show's Larry Wilmore joked about "goblin" and Trump spokesperson Katrina Pierson's similar screwup in mistaking the Afghanistan war timeline and joked about her name.

One of the ways Trump has tried to fix his gaffes is by claiming he is simply being sarcastic when he makes outrageous claims. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah noted this and suggested Trump heard the word recently and liked it, while Wilmore illustrated one of Trump's comments on the matter, noting that one of Trump's sentences doesn't even agree with itself.
