Play of the Day: Stop Trying to Convince Paul Ryan to be Speaker
The Wisconsin Republican does not want the job.
The first Democratic debate of the 2016 primary cycle was held in Las Vegas Tuesday night and, while the shows tape before the event happened, late-night hosts joked about the proceedings. Jimmy Kimmel, Late Night's Seth Meyers and The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon all joked about CNN's famed empty podium for Joe Biden, while Fallon also joked about prop bets around the debate.
The chaos in the House has not been resolved after Speaker of the House John Boehner's resignation and Kevin McCarthy's sudden withdrawal from consideration. The Daily Show devoted a segment to the situation, with host Trevor Noah asking House Republicans to simply leave Paul Ryan alone and featuring a scary look into Ryan's future of hiding from his colleagues.
