This Ted Cruz Staffer Blamed Ebola on Obamacare

“Before Obamacare, there had never been a confirmed case of Ebola in the U.S.,” Nick Muzin tweeted.

 Twitter is often a place for hyperbole and political spin, but here's something new.

On Thursday night, health officials confirmed an Ebola case in New York City, the fourth diagnosis of the disease in the United States. Shortly after the news broke, Sen. Ted Cruz's deputy chief of staff for strategy, Nick Muzin, sent this since-deleted tweet:

Muzin quickly deleted the tweet, and, following a rapid cascade of online criticism, issued this apology:

Cruz's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ted Cruz is a Republican senator from Texas. Before his election to Congress in 2010, there had never been a confirmed case of Ebola in the U.S.
