The prospect of Barack Obama making his first trip to Israel in the spring is big news and Stephen Colbert took the opportunity to mine Jewish-themed humor on his show on the occasion. The Hebrew language, falafel and Chanukah gelt all got time on Tuesday’s Colbert Report .

Craig Ferguson spent most of his monologue on the Tuesday Los Angeles mayoral election , using the opportunity to highlight gay Republican candidate Kevin James . Conan O’Brien was the only host to mention the sequester and its budget cuts , using meat inspectors again as an example. On ABC, Jimmy Kimmel focused on the canine question during Michelle Obama's Let's Move Google Hangout.
