CBS
The NCAA Basketball Tournament begins Thursday, so President Barack Obama filled out his bracket sheet this week before he went to Israel. Both of those topics were key points in late-night TV, with The Tonight Show’s Jay Leno highlighting the Israel trip and the lack of Vice President Joe Biden at said trip. March Madness was fodder for jokes for Late Late Show’s Craig Ferguson, Late Night’s Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.
Fallon also brought Pope Francis into the conversation about recent statements by NASA scientists about an asteroid hitting Earth’s surface. The Late Show’s David Letterman and Leno both went over the Republican Party’s soul-searching and need to find ways to court new voters. Letterman even had a phone call with “Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc.,” about his budget plan.
Fast forward to 4:00 to watch Letterman get the scoop on Ryan’s budget proposal from the man himself. Well, kind of.
