GSA announces new chief of staff

Michael Robertson will focus on sustainability, open government, economic recovery and contracting.

The General Services Administration on Tuesday announced that the White House has appointed Michael Robertson as the agency's chief of staff.

Robertson will assume his new position on May 3, in which he will work with agencies and the White House on sustainability, open government, Recovery Act implementation and acquisitions. He currently serves as GSA's associate administrator of governmentwide policy and chief acquisition officer and has helped develop contracting policies, manage the acquisition workforce and oversee internal operations. Robertson has worked with GSA since early 2009.

Robertson's "talent and commitment to GSA will assure our strong focus on our customers, align us with the president's priorities, and ensure that we find creative and collaborative ways to continue to be a leader across government," GSA Administrator Martha Johnson said.

Robertson will succeed Danielle Germain, who stepped down in January, less than a year after she was appointed.
