Key Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday said they will delay a vote for one week on the nomination of President Barack Obama's pick for attorney general, Eric Holder.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said Holder has given "ambiguous" answers on whether Bush administration officials could be prosecuted for conducting torture.

Cornyn and other Republicans want to ensure that Holder's legal analysis does not place those officials in legal jeopardy.

The Republicans will use their authority under committee rules at a meeting Wednesday to have a one-week delay on Holder's vote.
