Senior Executives Association Names Interim President
Former board member and staffer Tim Dirks arrives during search for Bonosaro successor.
Tim Dirks, a onetime director of human Resources management at the Energy Department, on Tuesday was named interim president of the Senior Executives Association.
The presidency was vacated this month with the retirement of SEA’s longtime leader Carol Bonosaro, who remains president emeritus and will stay on staff after moving to Florida.
Dirks, a former SEA board member and SEA member and agency liaison staffer, will serve while the search continues for a permanent president. “Tim is an exemplary senior executive with extensive public and private sector experience,” said Barbara Pabotoy, chair of the SEA board. “He will serve the association well, implementing our strategic approach to support Senior Executive Service and Senior Professional employees as the basis for efficient and effective government management.”
After 32 years of federal service, Dirks retired from Energy in 2002 having also performed HR duties for the Smithsonian Institution, the Office of Personnel Management, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He received the Presidential Meritorious Rank Award in 1996 and 2001.
As a retiree, Dirks consulted for GRA Inc., the Partnership for Public Service and the National Academy of Public Administration. He has also been a part-time instructor in Catholic University’s Masters in Human Resources program.
SEA is currently celebrating its 35th anniversary.
