Washington agencies to return to normal operating procedures on Friday
The Office of Personnel Management announced Thursday afternoon that federal agencies in the Washington metro area would be open on Friday, with employees expected to report to the office or begin previously arranged telework on time.
"Normal operating procedures are in effect," the agency announced.
This marks the first time government has been fully open, without temporary measures to allow employees to take unscheduled leave or telework, since last Friday's severe storms knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of Washington-area residents.
As on other ordinary workdays, OPM said, employees can account for their hours by working at an office or other installation in the D.C. area, taking a day off under an alternative work schedule, teleworking or taking scheduled leave.
