The new office combines GSA resources from the Office of Communications, Federal Consumer Information Center, Office of Intergovernmental Solutions, Office of Information Technology and Office of FirstGov.
"The need to provide the American people with fast, accurate and easy-to-use information about government services and activities has been steadily accelerating," said GSA Administrator Stephen Perry.
The merger of the offices implements one aspect of President Bush's management agenda, which aims to expand the use of Internet technology for government services.
