Printing Office's Comical Venture

The Government Printing Office publishes and distributes all kinds of federal documents, from the Federal Register to the Census Atlas of the United States. Now it's getting into the comics business.

Two GPO employees created the comic book, Squeaks Discovers Type!, featuring a videogame mouse, to teach kids about the invention and evolution of printing. The agency even made a video about their efforts:

Tom Shoop is vice president and editor in chief at Government Executive Media Group, where he oversees both print and online editorial operations. He started as associate editor of Government Executive magazine in 1989; launched the company’s flagship website, GovExec.com, in 1996; and was named editor in chief in 2007.
