Eighteen slots in HUD's Region 9 Office of Field Policy and Management are eligible for buyouts between Aug. 8 and Aug. 18, according to an agreement between the department and the National Federation of Federal Employees. Region 9 encompasses Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada.
If employees do not take all 18 buyouts, then the department will consider identifying additional eligible positions in the Office of Field Policy and Management within the union's bargaining unit and extending the deadline of the buyout window.
A HUD spokesman said there could be additional buyouts in other program areas in the future.
