FLOTUS Thanks Feds

Public Service Recognition Week is in full swing, and top federal officials are making it a point to thank government employees for their hard work.

In a post on the White House blog, Office of Personnel Management Director John Berry writes that federal workers may not always be visible but are responsible for many things the public takes for granted, such as border protection and food safety inspection.

In a video, first lady Michelle Obama also thanked federal employees for their service and called for their continued dedication to government work.

"I have been deeply moved and impressed by the talent, character and commitment of the public servants that I've met," she said. "Folks like you devote your lives, and sometimes risk your lives, to serve this country, often with little fanfare or recognition. Your work is vital, and it's worthy of the passion that you show."
