From the Diamond to the Air Force

Staff Sgt. Trevor Harvey is a chaplain's assistant with the Arizona Air National Guard's 162nd Fighter Wing. But he comes from a rather unusual background: The 6-foot, 5-inch lefthander is a former professional baseball player.

He had some memorable moments in his professional career, which was cut short by injury before he ever played in the big leagues. The high point? Once getting to play against Ken Griffey Jr. "During one game I pitched, he hit a ball over 500 feet," says Harvey.

Now though, Harvey says if he had it to do over again, he would forego the baseball career (including the opportunity to play while in college at Michigan) and enlist in the military straight out of high school. "That is how much I love what I do now," he says.
