Service to America Award medalists honored in Washington
The 2003 winners of the Service to America medals, which recognize federal civil servants who have made significant contributions to their country and who inspire others to embark on careers in public service, were honored at a gala event in Washington Wednesday.
The 2003 winners of the Service to America medals, which recognize federal civil servants who have made significant contributions to their country and who inspire others to embark on careers in public service, were honored at a gala event in Washington Wednesday.
Top honors, which come with a $10,000 prize, were awarded to Stephen McHale, deputy administrator of the Transportation Security Administration and Dr. James Bagian, director of the National Center for Patient Safety at the Veterans Health Administration.

The SAM program was created last year in a partnership between the magazines of Atlantic Media Co. and the Partnership for Public Service, a nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing the federal workforce.
