House Republicans announce new committee assignments

House Republicans filled nearly all their available committee slots Saturday with four openings still available on the House Government Reform Committee, two on the House Budget panel and one each on the Education and the Workforce, Small Business, Science, Transportation and Infrastructure and Veterans' Affairs committees. In addition to the biennial exodus of members from the House Budget Committee due to the term limits enforced on that panel, nearly two dozen incumbents switched committees, as noted in the following list. Agriculture: New GOP members of the committee are freshmen Reps. Timothy Johnson of Illinois; Tom Osborne of Nebraska, Mike Pence of Indiana, Dennis Rehberg of Montana, Sam Graves of Missouri, Adam Putnam of Florida and Mark Kennedy of Minnesota. Leaving the committee for other assignments were Reps. John Hostettler of Indiana, Ray LaHood of Illinois, Ken Calvert of California and Greg Walden of Oregon. Appropriations: New members are Reps. John Doolittle of California, LaHood, John Sweeney of New York and David Vitter of Louisiana. Armed Services: New members are Reps. Heather Wilson of New Mexico and Calvert, and freshmen Reps. Robert Simmons of Connecticut, Ander Crenshaw of Florida, Mark Kirk of Illinois, Jo Ann Davis and Edward Schrock of Virginia and Todd Akin of Missouri. Leaving for other assignments were Reps. Stephen Buyer of Indiana, Mary Bono of California and Joseph Pitts of Pennsylvania. Budget: New members are Reps. Wes Watkins of Oklahoma, Richard (Doc) Hastings of Washington, Rob Portman of Ohio, and freshmen Reps. Schrock, John Culberson of Texas, Henry Brown of South Carolina, and Crenshaw and Putnam of Florida. Leaving the committee were Reps. Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, Christopher Shays of Connecticut, Wally Herger of California, Nick Smith of Michigan, George Radanovich of California, Joseph Pitts of Pennsylvania, and Mark Green and Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. Education and the Workforce: New members are Rep. Judy Biggert of Illinois, and freshmen Reps. Todd Platts of Pennsylvania, Patrick Tiberi of Ohio, Ric Keller of Florida, Osborne and Culberson. Leaving for other assignments were Reps. Ron Paul of Texas and Nathan Deal of Georgia. Energy and Commerce: New members are Buyer, Radanovich, Pitts, Bono, Walden and Rep. Lee Terry of Nebraska. Leaving for other assignments is Rep. Michael Oxley of Ohio. Financial Services: Joining the committee and reclaiming their seniority were Reps. Paul Gillmor of Ohio and Christopher Cox of California. New members are Shays and Reps. John Shadegg of Arizona, Vito Fosella of New York, and Gary Miller of California, and freshmen Reps. Eric Cantor of Virginia, Felix Grucci of New York, Melissa Hart of Pennsylvania, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Mike Ferguson of New Jersey, Mike Rogers ofMichigan and Tiberi. Government Reform: New members are Rep. Ron Lewis of Kentucky, and freshmen Reps. Jeff Flake of Arizona, Jo Ann Davis of Virginia and Platts. Leaving for other assignments were Terry, Biggert, Walden, Ryan and Vitter. International Relations: New members are Paul, Nick Smith, and Pitts, and freshmen Reps. Darrell Issa of California, Cantor, Flake, Berns and Jo Ann Davis. Leaving the committee for other assignments were Gillmor and Radanovich. Judiciary: New members are Hostettler, Green, Keller, Issa, Hart and Flake. Leaving for other assignments were Ryan, Bono and Vitter. Resources: Rep. Scott McInnis of Colorado reclaimed his seniority, and new members are freshmen Reps. C.L. (Butch) Otter of Idaho and Osborne. Rules: There were no changes on this committee. Science: New members are Culberson, Akin, Timothy Johnson, Pence, Grucci and Hart. Leaving for other assignments were Reps. Kevin Brady of Texas and Green. Small Business: New members are Reps. John Thune of South Dakota, Pence, Ferguson, Issa, Graves, Schrock, Grucci and Akin. Leaving the committee for other assignments were Reps. Pitts, Sweeney and Bono. Transportation and Infrastructure: New members are Simmons, Rogers, Capito, Kirk, Henry Brown,Timothy Johnson, Brian Kerns of Indiana, Rehberg, Platts, Ferguson, Graves, Otter and Kennedy of Minnesota. Leaving for other assignments were Doolittle, Terry, Miller, Sweeney and Vitter. Veterans Affairs: New members are Simmons and Crenshaw. Leaving for other assignments were LaHood and Rep. James Hansen of Utah. Ways and Means: New members are Ryan and Brady.
