Scholarships Announced

The Federal Employee Education and Assistance Program has announced that applications for its 1998 scholarship competition are available.

Federal employees seeking scholarships to fund a college education for themselves or their dependents can find more information and download an application at FEEA's Web site.

Now in its 12th year, the FEEA Scholarship program has awarded more than $1.8 million in scholarships to civilian federal and postal employees and their dependents. Last year, FEEA awarded more than $268,000 in scholarships.

This year, scholarships will range from $300 to $1,750 per student, depending on the amount of federal employee donations received by FEEA through the Combined Federal Campaign.

The merit-based scholarships are awarded to applicants who demonstrate "outstanding academic achievement, a dedication to community service, clarity of thought as expressed in the required essay, and a positive written recommendation."

To be eligible for the competition, applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Applicants may be high school seniors, full-time college students, or graduate students. Federal employee applicants may be part-time students, but must have at least three years of civilian federal or postal service.

To receive an application by mail, send a self-addressed, stamped #10 business-size envelope to FEEA Scholarship Program, 8441 W. Bowles Avenue, Suite 200, Littleton, Colo., 80123-3245.
