DEMOCRATS, OBJECTING TO REPUBLICAN MOVE, SEND CLINTON 7 NAMES TO CONSIDER FOR GAO-"Congressional Democrats, objecting to a Republican short list of candidates to head the General Accounting Office, have sent President Clinton a longer list of potential nominees for comptroller general" (The Washington Post).

IRS TECHNOLOGY EXPERT RESIGNS-"Arthur A. Gross, the technology expert brought in just under two years ago to salvage the Internal Revenue Service's foundering computer modernization effort, resigned yesterday" (The Washington Post).

MANY FAA COMPUTERS STILL HEADED FOR CRASH IN 2000-"At its current pace, the Federal Aviation Administration will not be able to remove all the "year 2000" bugs from its hundreds of critical computer systems before the turn of the century, which could jeopardize airline safety, increase costs and delay flights, the General Accounting Office warned in a new report" (The New York Times).
