FAA Women Charge Harassment

Two female employees who allege sexual harrassment runs rampant in air traffic control towers and radar facilities have filed suit against the Federal Aviation Administration, USA Today reported Friday.

Lawyers for the two women say the suit may become a class action suit after they complete interviews with more women over the next few weeks.

More than 25 female controllers have submitted statements alleging that sexual discrimination and harassment are widespread at FAA facilities. Lawyers said they hope to gather as many as 100 such statements.

The alleged incidents took place at control towers around the country for the past two decades. They range from the use of crude and hostile language about women to anonymous threats, stalking and vandalism. The women also said that supervisors "turned a blind eye to the problem."

FAA officials did not comment on any specific allegations, but they said the agency has zero tolerance for discrimination in any form.
