CIA Spy Pleads Guilty

The highest-ranking CIA official to be caught spying pleaded guilty yesterday to spying for Russia and agreed to reveal the secrets he shared in return for a reduced sentence, the Associated Press reported today.

Harold J. Nicholson, 46, may have told the Russians the identities of other CIA operatives working in the former Soviet Union, in addition to passing them U.S. government documents. If Nicholson cooperates fully, his sentence could be reduced from life in prison to as little as 20 years.
