THE FEDERAL DIARY--"Investors would have a much easier time getting at their federal 401 (k) money, and get two new investment options, under a bill that sailed through the Senate on Tuesday evening" (The Washington Post).
MAIL ORDER PRESCRIPTIONS--Despite problems with mail-order drug prescription deliveries earlier this year, most federal employees and retirees are satisfied with the prescription drug component of the FEHB Program (Government Employee Relations Report, September 9).
COMMUTER CONNECTIONS--Looking for a better way to get to work? Commuter Connections is a region-wide transportation information, outreach, and service network dedicated to easing the daily commute. Its goal is to reduce single occupant vehicle use. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments(COG)introduced the program in June and it replaced the Ride Finders Network that COG established in 1974. OF INTEREST--Women do a better job than men in 28 of 31 key management categories, including keeping productivity high and generating ideas, but they do poorly at handling frustration, a new study reported yesterday (The Sun).
