CIA Web Site Hacked

Yesterday morning a group of Swedish computer hackers broke into the main CIA World Wide Web site.

According to a report in the Associated Press, the hackers, calling themselves "Power Through Resistance," were angry about a Swedish court case involving other hackers. The group wrote messages on the site attacking Bo Skarinder, the prosecutor in the case, and linked the site to Playboy magazine and several other sites.

The hacked version of the site appeared for about 12 hours yesterday. After it was discovered, the CIA site was taken offline. It remained shutdown Friday morning.

CIA spokesman Rick Oborn said the CIA's secure files were never in any danger since "this is a separate system not connected to any CIA internal files."
