While recent reports have shown that federal employees are losing faith in agency leadership, there are some bright spots to report in how feds are viewing leadership of their organizations. Hidden in the Partnership for Public Service’s newly released analysis last week is data that shows the agencies with the most effective leadership across the federal government.
While the data the Partnership released last week, which it has compiled for its best places to work in government index since 2003, showed the first overall drop in effective agency leadership in nine years, the following agencies fared the best.
The results were broken down by three major categories:
- Large Agencies (those with 15,000+ employees)
- Mid-Size Agencies (those with 1,000 -14,999 employees)
- Small Agencies (those with 100 – 999 employees)
Below are the five large, mid-size and small agencies with the best ratings for effective leadership, according to the 2012 Best Places to Work index. All scores are out of a possible 100.
Best Five Small Agencies
- Surface Transportation Board (75.3)
- Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (72.2)
- Federal Labor Relations Authority (69.7)
- Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (68.6)
- Overseas Private Investment Corporation (68.5)
Best Five Mid-Size Agencies
- Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (69.9)
- Nuclear Regulatory Commission (67.6)
- Federal Trade Commission (65.0)
- National Credit Union Administration (64.6)
- Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (59.4)
Best Five Large Agencies
- National Aeronautics and Space Administration (68.1)
- Intelligence Community (63.1)
- Department of State (59.5)
- Department of Commerce (58.6)
- Department of the Treasury (57.4)
