Bieber Fever has been swept into the dustbin of history.

In just 22 minutes, President Obama's Nov. 6 re-election tweet trounced pop star Justin Bieber's former record for most shared tweet of all time. Obama's tweet now holds the record, by a wide margin, for most retweeted tweet. As of this morning, the post has been shared more than 645,000 times--beating Bieber's old record of more than 200,000.

Political and government Twitter accounts continue to prove themselves as a valuable tool for connecting with citizens. See our profile of the women behind NASA's Mars Curiosity Rover's tweets and how they came close to "Bieber level" when announcing the rover's successful landing last August.
