U.S. airstrike kills seven militants in Yemen

Strike targeted al-Qaida operatives in the southern part of the country.

The U.S. launched its second airstrike in Yemen since foiling an al-Qaida bomb plot earlier this week, killing as many as seven militants, The Washington Post reported.

New details have also emerged about the bomb plot, as officials confirmed that the informant was a British citizen. As an undercover agent, he helped the CIA and its Saudi counterpart infiltrate the terrorist network and turned over a new type of underwear bomb. The Post reports that the operative had been in place for months, and held a British passport.

The airstrike targeted al-Qaida operatives in southern Yemen, at least the 15th U.S. airstrike in the country this year.
