Frank Anderson, longtime DAU president, recently announced his plan to retire from the civil service, Government Executive has learned. Anderson also is retiring as director of Defense's acquisition, technology and logistics human capital initiatives.
Anderson's retirement will be effective May 31, according to Kelley Berta, program director for outreach at DAU.
A vacancy announcement for the position has yet to be made public. Berta said she had no information about when a decision will be made on a new DAU president.
DAU oversees all aspects of education and training for more than 133,000 members of the defense acquisition workforce. The university also will play a lead training role in Pentagon efforts to build up the size of its acquisition workforce by converting 11,000 contractors to federal employees and hiring an additional 9,000 acquisition professionals by 2015.
