The WaPo reports that "House Republicans will call on the leaders of major military contracting firms Wednesday to detail how they plan to deal with the roughly $500 billion in defense spending cuts set to take effect over the next decade."
Sen. Charles Schumer writes in the Wall Street Journal today that the Department of Justice should drop its suit against Apple over its e-books.
Top Republicans in Congress want to avoid a government-shutdown showdown come the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30, fearing that such a fight could hurt the party's chances in November, Politico reports.
