Special thanks and recognition is extended to our Founding Awards Sponsors: US Bank Government Services and Visa USA as well as to our Event Awards Sponsors: GovWorks, MicroWarehouse and SimplexGrinnell. The award was designed to identify teams of individuals from across federal government who have used acquisition as a strategic business tool advancing the agency mission.

With a shrinking pool of acquisition experts in government, it has become increasingly important for these teams to work innovatively, efficiently and with a clear sense of purpose.

The awards identify leading examples of the greatest impact and trend-setting accomplishments in the practice of the new business performance culture. The awards also recognize the importance of partnership between agency staff and leadership in thinking through planning and managing acquisitions. To be eligible, acquisition teams must submit Business Solutions in the Public Interest applications in which the acquisition efforts meet the following criteria:

  • Be administered under the authority of the federal government, and be submitted by that federal agency responsible for the acquisition (submissions involving a partnership with a private contractor are eligible, but applications must be submitted by the government entity);
  • Be able to demonstrate that it has progressed significantly toward the achievement of its stated goals.
