Innovating Government IT Procurement Through JELA

Presented by CDW-G CDW-G's logo

Please tune in to watch this archived video of the first of a two-part viewcast series in partnership with Government Executive Media Group exploring the Department of Defense's (DoD) Joint Information Environment (JIE) strategy leading to procurement shifts. Hear case studies from U.S. Government and industry leaders that are forging the joint way ahead.

The Department of Defense has radically changed the way it procures Information Technology (IT) as DISA’s Joint Information Environment (JIE) evolves. Increasing joint collaboration and communication are vitally important in an evolving threat landscape and new procurement methods, such as Joint Enterprise Licensing Agreements (JELAs),have been developed to support these priorities. These joint contract offerings, with DISA at the helm, are breaking down the individual Service operational and procurement and increasingly look like they will be the future of DoD IT procurement.

But why exactly has DoD moved to this model in purchasing IT services? What are the costs and benefits of using JELAs to procure services? And what, in the end, does this mean for government technology stakeholders from service providers to federal managers?

Hear the panel address these questions and others, specifically on the topics of:

• The evolution and adoption of JIE, discussion of its current state
• The structure of a JELA
• Why DoD has begun using JELAs and what they have learned so far
• What to expect for Defense procurement in the future
