Over the last five years, the Department of Defense has aimed to create a unified, secure and reliable communications environment built on shared IT infrastructure, known as the Joint Information Environment (JIE). To accomplish the JIE's goals of improved situational awareness, information security, operational efficiency, and reduced costs, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and the military services are pioneering the use of innovative procurement tools that maximize value and performance. One of such tools is the Joint Enterprise Licensing Agreement or JELA. Government Business Council spoke with senior DoD leaders about JELA and what it can do for the Department of Defense.
