Cloud Computing for Federal Agencies: Webcast Replay—Podcast

Cloud is now part of the fabric of a federal agency’s mission and an essential component of achieving the broader strategy—but where do you start? In this podcast, find out the several important questions all federal management teams should consider before migrating to the cloud

Cloud can make agencies more responsive, more flexible, more scalable and more cost effective, but despite these advantages, many agencies have been slow in moving to the cloud. According to a survey Accenture conducted with the Government Business Council, nearly 60 percent of the agency executives polled say they do not know the type of strategy their agency is using to migrate data and services to the cloud. Of those who did know,  findings show migration to the cloud is still in its very early stages.

In some cases, agencies have had trouble reining in the sprawl that may come along with cloud. In other cases, agencies have been challenged with building adequate business cases for procuring the cloud in the first place and thus have been slow to transition their full IT portfolios.

While the cloud has numerous business advantages—flexibility, rapid deployment, increased capabilities, the ability to secure sensitive information and lower costs—this research shows that the security of sensitive information and costs remain the two most important considerations for agencies when procuring these cloud systems.

When approached the right way, cloud computing can be a game-changer, not just for IT, but also as a tool for driving agency-wide results. This happens by identifying upfront the efficiency and effectiveness goals that your agency is working to achieve and developing a detailed roadmap.

Listen to the podcast to understand how to successfully migrate to the cloud and help ensure your agency’s IT system will be effective for the years to come.
