Interoperability Advancements for the DoD

The Department of Defense (DoD) recently released a set of Zero Trust initiatives designed to enhance the security of its networks & systems, modernize DoD infrastructure, prioritize data protection, and implement strong identity and access management controls. It’s an approach closely aligned with the concepts behind SASE, or Secure Access Service Edge. In this episode of GovExec TV, we’ll examine what’s next for Zero Trust in the DoD, where SASE fits in, and how agencies can use those frameworks to improve interoperability and network security at the same time.

DoD's SASE Model to Benefit State and Local Governments

The Thunderdome prototype is a Zero Trust security model that leverages commercial technologies. As part of that pilot project, the Defense Information Systems Agency will develop a Secure Access Service Edge solution for Department of Defense workloads – both in the cloud and at on-premises data centers. Thunderdome’s potential extends far beyond DoD. State and local governments can leverage its SASE model to defend against malware and ransomware, to deploy cloud-based security to specific populations, and to provide efficient access to a variety of users. In this episode of GovExec TV, we’ll examine how SASE works and its implications for IT leaders across the Country.

Speakers:

Robert Hankinson, Cybersecurity Architect, Deloitte

Fadi Fadhil, Field CTO, Palo Alto Networks

Carlos Valarezo, SASE Sales Leader, Palo Alto Networks
