Round Table Discussions
Table Themes:
1) Experience Matters—Using Experience to Drive Operational Excellence
Government “of the people, by the people and for the people” articulates the importance of human experience in effective government. It is now possible to measure the quality of the experiences of employees and citizens in their interactions with government, combine those results with operational data, and gain new insights into the “why” of what is working and what is not. Real time insights into performance and sentiment take the guess work out of providing valued services. The President’s Management Agenda has set a goal for government of delivering customer experience comparable to that provided in private sector service organizations. Join our interactive roundtable discussion to learn how government and commercial enterprises are using the power of “why” to drive operational excellence and create superior experiences for employees and citizens.
2) Managing the Cost of the Growing Contract Workforce
As agencies struggle to handle growing workloads with shrinking Federal staff and increasing critical skill gaps, contractors have become a critical part of the workforce. While the government employee workforce is visible and actively managed by program and finance managers, the cost of the government contractor workforce can be inscrutable. Does your agency understand the true hourly cost of contract employees? Are these costs in line with the market? Is the work performed by contract staff commensurate with the tasks they perform? Join us to discuss your challenges in managing this growing component of agency spend, and to learn how other organizations have achieved process efficiencies and contract workforce spend visibility, resulting in significant cost savings and more effective management of the contract workforce.
3) New Pay: What Does It Mean To You?
In 2009, the Federal government completed the consolidation of payroll processing for Federal employees from 26 systems to four, an effort that took seven years, and is reported to have saved the government in excess of $1 billion over the past 10 years. Those four payroll systems are now old and in need of modernization. GSA’s “New Pay” initiative aims to modernize payroll processing in the government, by moving off of these legacy payroll systems to modern, Software-as-a-Service solutions. The first task orders to configure the two New Pay awardees have been issued. Discuss with your colleagues the opportunities that are presented by the New Pay initiative, and learn how SAP is participating in this important modernization initiative with its FedRAMP certified payroll solution.
4) The Intelligent Enterprise—Making Your Data Work for You
If finance executives had magic wands, they would use them to free the answers to their finance questions that are now trapped in their systems. Mining data for insights looks more like mining coal—real pick and shovel work to federate, harmonize, organize and visualize information. By the time it’s ready, you’re looking in the rear view mirror. Join us to discover what real time data, enhanced with external data to provide context to the numbers, and predictive insights can mean for your ability to provide value to your organization. Discuss with your colleagues what your greatest needs are, where and how you are making progress, and how you can access next generation data insights today.
5) The Intelligent Enterprise Transformation in Regulated Industries
Similar to the scale and complexity of the Federal Government Agencies, companies in Regulated Industries including Healthcare, Utilities and Aerospace & Defense are faced with the growing need for digital transformation, improved operational and financial performance and enhanced insights from their operations. The pace of technological change and advent of Cloud capabilities are challenging to many complex application architectures. Finance transformations can especially present a path to begin to shape the future Intelligent Enterprise while delivering faster time-to-value for Finance stakeholders. We’ll discuss approaches for finance transformation, possible insights to be gained and lessons from industries on similar finance transformation journeys.
