Play of the Day: Donald Trump's Penchant For Branding

After an administration that has supported the placement of Confederate monuments in public squares, a reporter asked Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for the White House's official position on slavery during a press briefing this week. Conan O'Brien joked about the news, saying it was the first time a White House has had to do this since President Ulysses S. Grant's administration.

President Donald Trump and the Republicans are set to unveil a tax plan this week, but one of the holdups is the name of the bill. Speaker Paul Ryan reportedly asked Trump to name the bill and Trump is reportedly insisting on calling the bill the Cut Cut Cut Act. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that Trump came up with the name during a game of Duck Duck Goose and joked that it beats the Bye Bye Bye Immigration Act name. Late Show's Stephen Colbert cited news stories saying that Ryan asked Trump to name the bill because of Trump's "penchant for branding," noting that Trump has a real skill for naming: Trump Tower, Trump Vodka, Donald Trump Jr., etc.
