By 2014, an average of 375 million people per year will be affected by climate-related disasters, more than 50 percent greater than last decade’s average. To provide aid to those in need, a vast network of NGOs has arisen to raise funds and provide materials. However, these organizations are quickly falling behind, hampered by ineffecient logistics and out-dated practices. Disasters are increasingly destructive and expensive, and it will take the leadership of the public sector to improve both public and private disaster relief operations.
