A number of federal agencies have set ambitious goals for themselves in areas such as server consolidation, datacenter consolidation, and power-saving programs for datacenters. As part of these efforts, federal agencies have been exploring blade server technology as a solution with significant potential to help with each of these agencies. Notably, blade systems have already been installed at both civilian and defense agencies, and the interest at other agencies seems to be growing.

Government agencies face unique challenges when it comes to email security, including email that is sent externally. Regulatory initiatives such as HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, 21 CFR 11, and the NCUA data security regulations place many specialized requirements on governmental information handling practices, with a direct impact on email systems. Government agencies use IronPort email security solutions to reduce cost and complexity and keep mission critical email safe and accessible. Electronic communications exiting the company still go largely unmonitored– with the ever-present potential for confidential information to fall into the wrong hands. This can wreak havoc on organizations’ bottom line through bad publicity, loss of strategic customers, loss of competitive intelligence and legal action. All avenues of electronic communication need to be policed to prevent a variety of sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands. Download this FREE booklet today and learn how your organization can protect its sensitive information.

Like the private sector, governments want to solicit input from citizens to improve services and become more responsive and innovative. This paper explores how enhancing collaboration among government groups, citizens and others can enable a more “market-based” approach to processes and can help improve service delivery.

Recent trends in federal datacenter environments have placed increased pressures on IT managers including system consolidation and unpredictable budgets. This situation has prompted federal customers to seek ways to increase service levels while operating under strict budget constraints.
HP’s new BlasdeSystem c-Class is designed to address many of the issues IT managers are currently being confronted with. The BlasdeSystem c-Class incorporates HP Virtual Connect, an innovative technology that effectively virtualizes server I/O and can eliminate some of the most troubling types of server bottlenecks. The network can be preprovisioned so that the server network addresses reside with the bay in the enclosure rather than the server itself. Because the server is stateless from a network perspective, hardward can be quickly moved or replaced with minimal staff effort or time. This reduces the strain on OT staff members, allowing them to focus on more mission-critical government IT tasks.
