Adm. Michael G. Mullen: The New Choice for Chief
 | On June 8, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced that Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace would step down this fall as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Gates has recommended that President Bush nominate Chief of Naval Operations Michael G. Mullen to take the post. - To guard the Afgan borders, why not bring back the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR)that was used in WWII for laying down a blanket of lead for up to a mile away.Mount the BAR on a Marine Corp (4 Wheel)mule with 2 marines on several hilltops and monitor the border crossings with airforce drones equiped with heat sensing equipment. We could monitor any activity and enguage the enemy a mile away keeping our troops safe and alive.
