Play of the Day: Assad Has The World’s Least Successful Mustache

Comedy Central

Last month, a misprint created a problem on copies of $100 bills, so the Bureau of Engraving and Printing has been tasked with destroying 30 million of the defective currency. The Late Show’s staff put together a video explaining the errors, saying the problem was a photo of Ben Franklin with his eyes closed. The Tonight Show’s Jay Leno also got in on the fun, saying, “The only thing we know how to do right in this country is print money and we screw that up.”

A possible strike against Syria was on the minds of late-night hosts Tuesday. After a short vacation away from world news, Stephen Colbert could put together that President Barack Obama was going to drop Miley Cyrus on Syria… or something like that. Leno harkened back to the Iraq war in commenting on Obama’s decision to seek approval for the strike from Congress and even had a video metaphor featuring hapless boxers. Conan O’Brien joked about comments from Bashar al-Assad calling Obama “weak,” while David Letterman had a video introducing Assad -- and his facial hair style -- to viewers.

Fast forward to 4:10 to see Colbert explain why the U.S. might go to war with Syria.
