Federal offices in the Washington area are open Thursday under a two-hour delayed arrival policy, the Office of Personnel Management announced.
Employees also have the option to take unscheduled leave or telework.
Those not teleworking should arrive at work no more than two hours after their scheduled starting time, OPM said.
The National Weather Service predicted one to three inches of snow would accumulate across the region in the course of the morning.
"Temperatures were expected to stay below freezing, keeping road temperatures cold enough for snow to stick," wrote OPM Director Katherine Archuleta in a Facebook post. "Local transportation departments reported that they had pre-treated most major arteries and that a two-hour delay would give them time to clear roads of snow before the heaviest traffic hit."
