DHS Places Employee Who Backed Racial Violence on Leave

Small-business acquisition specialist ran anti-white website.

The Homeland Security Department has placed on administrative leave an employee recently exposed as the force behind a website filled with hate speech that advocates violence against whites.

The employee, Ayo Kimathi, is a senior contract and small business specialist who has been at DHS since July 5, 2009.

The website called WOH that Kimathi allegedly runs using the name “the Irritated Genie” was exposed last week by the nonprofit Southern Poverty Law Center, which compiles intelligence on domestic radicals on its blog called “Hate Watch.”

“He’s a gay-bashing, revenge-seeking black nationalist who advocates on his website -- War is on the Horizon -- the mass murder of whites and the “ethnic cleansing” of “black-skinned Uncle Tom race traitors,” wrote Don Terry of the center.

“Warfare is [imminent],” the website declares, “and in order for black people to survive the 21st century, we are going to have to kill a lot of whites -- more than our Christian hearts can possibly count.”

Center researchers say Kimathi works in a unit of Immigration and Customs Enforcement that purchases guns, ammunition and handcuffs. One of his former supervisors said, “Everybody in the office is afraid of him.”

Kimathi “is not involved in or responsible for the purchasing of guns or ammunition for ICE or DHS,” a DHS spokeswoman said.

The former supervisor discovered the activism in mid-June. “When I saw the website, I was stunned,” she said. “To see the hate, to know that he is a federal employee, it bothered me.”

Kimathi’s duties included appearing as ICE’s public face at vendor events, the center reported. The supervisor said he obtained permission to run the outside website by misrepresenting it as an entertainment project selling videos of lectures and concerts.
